Hecthor Deployed to Kharkiv
In early April 2025, the successful handover of the Hecthor tracked vehicle to rescue units in Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine, took place. This robust, remotely operated machine, developed for firefighting and operations in extremely hazardous environments, will primarily be used in affected urban areas where there is a high risk due to shelling or unexploded ordnance.
This exceptional milestone was made possible by the Czech organization Team 4 Ukraine, which has been consistently supporting Ukraine’s professional rescue forces—both materially and technologically. Thanks to their efforts, Hecthor was transported directly to Kharkiv, where initial training and a field demonstration of its capabilities were also organized.
What can Hecthor do? Capabilities and specifications
Hecthor is a fully tracked, remotely operated vehicle designed for interventions in extreme conditions—such as fires, explosions, chemical accidents, or areas where human life would be at significant risk.
Key specifications of Hecthor:
-
Water output: up to 2,000 liters per minute
-
Load capacity: 500 kg
-
Integration of thermal cameras and other sensors possible
-
Operating time: up to 14 hours on a single charge
Thanks to its design, Hecthor can traverse challenging terrain—such as rubble from destroyed buildings or muddy areas.
Handover with the participation of experts: Požáry.cz and Mr. Lukáš Kavka
The handover and first field test were attended by Lukáš Kavka, a respected editor of Požáry.cz, a portal focused on firefighting equipment and safety innovations. Mr. Kavka not only documented the entire process but also provided valuable insights into the practical use of Hecthor in a war-affected environment.
A partnership that saves lives
Thanks to the collaboration between Hecthor’s manufacturer and Team 4 Ukraine, this modern Czech-made equipment has been deployed abroad for the first time. It is expected that similar robotic systems could be used in other regions of Ukraine or in different conflict zones.
Given the current developments in the conflict, eastern Ukraine remains a high-risk area. That is precisely why technologies like Hecthor are essential—they protect the lives of first responders and enable effective intervention even in locations where human deployment would be impossible.
